Recent Activities

In the last three years Chittagong divisional office and district offices under the division have been organizing public awareness meetings, regularly conducting market surveillance activities, resolving complaints, distributing leaflets, pamphlets, posters/calendars and organizing seminars. 3,13,64,300/- (Three Crore Thirteen Lakh Sixty Four Thousand Three Hundred Taka) was fined to 3,088 organizations for violation of consumer rights by conducting 1,434 raids in 2021-22 financial year by Chittagong Divisional Office and District Offices. 7,66,500/- (Seven Lakh Sixty Six Thousand Five Hundred Taka) was fined by settling 943 complaints of the consumers and 1,92,375/- (One Lakh Ninety Two Thousand Three Hundred Taka) was paid to the consumers at the rate of 25% of the fine collected. has been; 170 awareness meetings and 60,000 leaflets were held to create public awareness; 45,000 pamphlets and 9,000 calendars have been distributed. 3,12,20,500/- (Tk. 3,12,20,500/- (Tk. Three Crores, Twenty Thousand, Five Hundred)) were fined to 2,747 organizations for violation of consumer rights by conducting 1,477 raids in the financial year 2022-23. 15,50,000/- (Taka Fifteen Lakh Fifty Five Thousand) was fined by settling 1,178 consumer complaints and 3,82,500/- (Taka Three Lakh Eighty Two Thousand Five Hundred) was paid to the complainants at the rate of 25% of the fine collected. has been; 168 awareness meetings have been held to create public awareness. 3,10,59,200/- (Tk. 3,10,59,200/-) fined 3,10,59,200/- (Tk. 3,10,000,969,200) in 2023-24 financial year (up to May 2024) by conducting 1245 raids against 2,343 establishments for violation of consumer rights. 4,98,000/- (Taka Four Lakh Ninety Eight Thousand) was fined by settling 1,447 complaints of the consumers and 1,22,750/- (Taka One Twenty Two Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty) was paid to the consumers at the rate of 25% of the fine collected. has been; 168 awareness meetings have been held to create public awareness.
In order to promote the "Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009", seminars have been organized at all upazila, district and division levels of the department. Moreover, World Consumer Rights Day was celebrated on March 15 across the department.
